Managing Hierarchies

About Hierarchies

Dimensions are comprised of hierarchies. Hierarchies are comprised of members.

For example, the Account dimension may be comprised of the following hierarchies and members:

Accessing the Hierarchy Manager

To access the Hierarchy Manager:

  1. From the Models module in the navigation pane, select the Dimensions icon.
  2. Double-click on the dimension you wish to modify.
  3. The Hierarchy Manager will appear with the hierarchies collapsed.

Navigating the Hierarchy Manager Interface

Toolbar Options

The Hierarchy Manager window has a toolbar along the top that allows you to navigate and initiate various actions within the Hierarchy Manager.

Navigate to Hierarchy

(default) indicates the primary hierarchy is displayed.

Filter

Filtering the Display

To filter the display:

  1. Click the Filter button to open a search bar.

  2. Type in a name or caption that contains a string and press <Enter>.
  3. The Hierarchy Manager will filter to show only hierarchies that contain members that satisfy the filter criteria.
